Senior IT Project Manager

Senior IT Project Manager with Waterfall and Agile experience (2+ years as a Scrum Master) to lead the implementation of a new Commission System.

Our client, a large P&C insurance provider based in Massachusetts is looking for a Senior IT Project Manager with the ability to lead, influence, and negotiate outcomes across the development of scope, refinement of project requirements, development of estimates and plans, formulation of schedules, and completion of design, development, testing, and deployment of capabilities/solutions. The candidate should exhibit thought leadership, adaptability and ownership for results and be able to create effective, productive relationships with stakeholders.

  • Leads complex projects and has accountability for the estimating, planning, scheduling, tracking, management of risk, budget, change management, problem resolution, reporting and communicating
  • Has an awareness of industry trends and competitors
  • At a project level, maintains strategic vendor relationships
  • Accountable for the on-boarding, assignment and achievement of service levels for Vendor Resources on the project and the integrated project planning

Scrum Master elements of role:

  • Responsible for coaching Business and IT Leaders in the SAFe framework at the team and portfolio level
  • Responsible for coaching Product Owners and teams in following Agile/Scrum practices including development of backlog, sprint planning, daily standups, story and sprint reviews, automated testing and continuous improvement retrospection.
  • Coach teams to become empowered and self-organized. Build a safe, enthusiastic and transparent environment at the team and program level
  • Assess the agile maturity of the teams and organization and facilitate the continuation of maturity to higher levels

Critical Success Factors:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Scrum Master
  • Demonstrated ability leading project teams and delivering highly complex projects on time, on budget and with expected scope at a high level of quality (Waterfall and Agile)
  • Proven track record of leadership, negotiation, and establishing collaborative partnerships with business counterparts and coworkers
  • Ability to understand “the big picture” and to apply advanced knowledge of project management methodology, best practices, tools and processes
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and Project, Jira and Jira Portfolio


  • 5 years leading IT projects focused on insurance product and business operations/processes
  • Property and Casualty insurance experience with a focus on Insurance Billing
  • CSM, PMP or other Project management certification preferred
